Background of the upazila:
Noakhali is one of the oldest districts of Bangladesh. Kabirhat Upazila is made up of Narottampur,
Sondalpur, Dhansindri, Ghoshbagh, Chaprashirhat, Dhanshalik, Batia Union and Kabirhat municipalities
of Noakhali Sadar upazila.The newly formed Kabirhat upazila consists of 7 unions and 1 municipality. 
Kabirhat Upazila, Companiganj Upazila and Sadar Upazila's Arshwadia and Neyazpur Unions.
 Kabirhat upazila has a population of 2,01,296.About 75% of the population is Muslim, the rest are Hindus 
and Christians. Religious harmony exists between Hindus, Muslims and Christians living here. The literacy 
rate in the area is 56.09% and the communication system and quality of life of the people is good. 
Most of the people in the area depend on agriculture. The people of the area have been demanding the creation 
of a new upazila for a long time.In view of this, the government of Bangladesh has recently created Kabirhat 
Upazila by separating a part from Noakhali Sadar Upazila. This has opened a new horizon for the development 
of the destiny of the people of the area.
